The Howard University Summer Transportation Institute(STI) is a four week long intensive program from mid June, through mid July every year.The program is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the District Department of Transportation with the support of Howard University.
The Institute seeks to aid in developing a diverse and robust workforce for the transportation industry by exposing middle and high school students to transportation careers. STI recruits 15-25 students and exposes them to various exciting activities and field trips that provide them an understanding of civil engineering with a special focus on transportation careers.
